Feature & Follow Friday #6

First things first…what is the Feature & Follow Blog Hop? Well, it’s a weekly meme hosted by Rachel @ Parajunkee and Alison @ Alison Can Read. The meme helps to launch new book bloggers and also makes it easy for quite a few already established (and new!) bloggers to get together once a week and go on a commenting-frenzy. Make new friends, get in touch with old ones…it’s a win/win for everyone!

  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say “hi” in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn’t have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don’t just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don’t say “HI”
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love…and the followers

The question is:

Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

You know, I’ve never bought a book because of a bad REVIEW, but I have bought a book because some idiot called it “soft pornography” and asked for it to be banned. That book would be Laurie Halse Anderson’s Speak. It’s good, you should get it. 😉

Please follow via the Linky Follow on the sidebar; if you despise the Linky, there’s also Feedburner, WordPress Email, and Twitter here. 🙂

  1. Ooh, great point. I think SPEAK is actually probably the ONE book I did buy because I didn’t understand it’s bad rep at the time. And you’re right – it’s amazing.

    Great site! :]

  2. Jussy Who says:

Hi there 🙂 just hopping through. Oh dear banning over soft porn.. harsh much lol?

  4. Just blogging through, have a great week-end.

  5. My Answer: No, Reviews matter a lot to me. Not unless the book became controversial that I would really feel the need to read that book.

  6. Hopping by to say have a great weekend!
    New Linky follower 🙂

  7. I don’t generally let bad reviews stop me from reading a book – but as a poor college student, my preference is usually to borrow them first! If I end up liking it, I buy it – if not, then I have more money for other books!

New Linky follower here! Happy Friday :).

  8. Following via Feature & Follow – nice to meet you!

  9. Hi,
New follower, nice to meet you!! I would never buy a book bust because of bad reviews, but I have read books with =bad reviews that I have loved. It is based on the book and author for me. I wouldn’t let bad reviews keep me from reading a book I was interested in.
